I was checking my email one morning and I was really excited because I got feedback from two different people about my my web page. I thought they were quite a study in contrast, and that people like you might enjoy reading them. I'm leaving their names out, because I think I'm about to flame one of them.

This one was very nice. I enjoyed reading it. I cut out all the stuff in reference to some people we mutually know.
"Delightful web pages, Nicole....Beautiful testimony. So glad you and Joel are bold enough to express your faith on the net. I'm proud of you....I will keep an eye on your pages."



This one freaked me out! Apparently a pro-marching band traitor has stepped upon my web page.


"Nicole: you are obviously a very sick person to spend so much of your time on how much you hate marching band. But marching band is absolutely American, like Wal-Mart and McDonald's and you have no anti pages for them. Please, calm down!"

 

Okay. Just because I have one anti page does not mean I am anti everything. Marching band is not strictly American. I know for a fact that at least one exists in Britain, and I have been told that they exist in Holland and in Canada. I guess I might as well tell you guys that I hate Wal-Mart. It's WAY to crowded in there for me. I'm slightly claustrophobic. I'm also slightly vegetarian, so I don't eat at McDonald's avidly either. If I want french fries, I go to Jack in the Box and order a Sourdough Jack without the meat. I don't plan on becoming anti-American, but if I do, I'll be sure to inform my loving public about my anti-apple pie, anti-Abe Lincoln, pro-communist, anti-baseball, anti-football, anti-lawsuit, anti-TV, anti-Aaron Copeland, anti-religious freedom, anti-wind band pages.


This one needs no explaining. He wrote it at about 4 in the morning and we all know what kind of wierdos lurk the net at that hour.

"Nice web page. If you're a dork. I hate it. You are the kind of person that really make this world a far worse place. I hate you and all that you stand for. Of course, you obviously hate me and all that I stand for too because you hate marching band. I'll give you a little history of myself -- as though you care. I was a drum major in my high school band. And I liked it. Yeah, so every once in a while I would have to take NyQuil and some slightly illegal drugs in order to deal with the intense pain that you get when you march properly, but it was all in good fun. I'm still trying to kick that "pain reliever" habit now but that's another story for another time. NyQuil, man that's some good stuff. It rocks and it rolls. My band director as really fat. He used to wear really tight clothes. Really tight clothes and really big people don't mix. It's like drinking and boating. It's just not a good combination. In fact, I don't like drinking at all. Well, except for the occasional apple juice. I mean, if it weren't for the advent of drinking, people would go about dehydrating all the time and that average life span of people would only be something like 5 days rather than 70+ years. So, I suppose drinking is a good thing sometimes. But only in moderation. Hey, speaking of moderation.

After high school, I decided to join a drum & bugle corps. That's like a really good marching band without all the pansy flutes and crap. We were good. I had fun. You would probably come up with some kind of anti drum corps page if you had lived that life too. It's not for the faint of heart. In fat, neither is McDonald's. I went there the other day and I was astonished to find that every entree on the menu contained meat. What is this world coming to? I mean, I can't go into an American institution like Mickey D's and get myself a nice vegetarian meal? Maybe you ought to put up an Anti-McDonald's web page too. Ya know, there was recently an article in Vegetarian Times about how meat is bad. It was called "Real Men Eat Tofu". Well, it was really good. Everyone and their dog should check out that magazine. It's really good. Anyway back to my story. I think that maybe you need to spend less time hating marching band and more time practicing your instrument. Geez. Well, enough time telling you how bad your page is, I respect you for putting up a web page and all, it's not an easy thing to do. Congratulations and I wish that maybe you would turn around your opinion on marching band but I have a strong feeling that's not happening. Keep expressing your feelings though, it's a good thing."
